The original Navigator compass was first manufactured in 1965, the oring seal on the original Navigator went around the base of the dome and the bezel ring compresed the oring. In 1980 Ritchie modified the dome and oring on the Navigator series compasses as you see it on this page. The new style dome has a flange at the base of the dome. The flange has a groove to accomodate the oring seal. Before ordering parts from this page be sure that your dome on your compass has a flange at the base and the oring fits up under the dome. The modifed version of the Navigator compass was manufactured until 1984 when it was replaced with the Navigator 2000 series.
